Mining area

The largest deposit of foundry and glass sand in Slovakia is situated in site Borský Peter and Šajdíkove Humence. Based on expert calculations the mining area holds nearly 75 million tons of sand. These are so-called Quaternary eolian (windblown) sands in the Slovak part of the Vienna Basin. The site was formed approximately 100,000 years ago. Raw material contains sand of exceptionally even and round grain size, which means that the material is of highest quality.
